Plumbing Beaufort County

The sights, sounds, and history of Beaufort County are diverse. Beaufort is the fastest-growing county in South Carolina and has the advantage of being near the coast and close to the scenic landscapes of neighboring counties. The Atlantic Ocean, South Carolina counties of Jasper and Colleton, and Georgia’s Chatham County surround Beaufort. The county covers 923 square miles, with land covering 576 square miles and water covering 347 square miles. Any tourist to this region will be spoiled for activities.

Beaufort County was formerly renowned as the vacation home of the planters who worked on adjacent rice and cotton estates. These astute farmers cultivated Carolina rice, the finest rice globally, and “sea-island cotton,” a great long and smooth staple. Because the cotton’s staple was so tiny, it was usually packed by hand into bags rather than baled or compressed.

Beaufort County is a state gem with its intriguing mix of old-world appeal and seaside charm sprinkled among its cities and island communities. The neighborhood is full of history, entertainment, and beautiful scenery. The fascinating history of this beautiful place is on display at places like the Parris Island Museum, where you can see historic photos and learn more about what life was like for soldiers who retired here before API’s Base Realignment and Closure Commission removed them in 1994.

It also has some fabulous beaches, such as Hunting Island State Park Beach, which has dramatic ocean views from its crescent shape that juts out into the sea.

The landscape around Beaufort is as beautiful as its rich culture. Its daily arts scene includes musicians, performers, authors, storytellers, painters, weavers, sculptors, and jewelry artists. You can find the Lowcountry’s geography, history, and spirit inspiring local artists in vibrant art galleries and artisan shops.

The local entertainment scene includes historical revues, Gullah-influenced plays, and the renowned Beaufort Orchestra. The Performing Arts Center at the University of South Carolina Beaufort is a great place to go if you’re looking for something more than just music. There are plenty of ways this venue can satisfy your needs, from festivals and historical walks!

Bluffton inhabitants have a tremendous feeling of community, thanks to the abundance of natural resources in the Lowcountry. In a way, nonconformists, the town has an eclectic air and is home to many artists who flourish in community efforts such as festivals, parades, and exhibitions in the area’s art galleries.

Bluffton prioritizes historic preservation, which has resulted in a spike in tourism that has earned the formerly tranquil town a slew of local, regional, and national awards. In addition, it is a desirable relocation destination because of its vibrant arts and cultural scene and the importance of its history, as evidenced by the creation of the Historic District, a haven of historic landmarks, educational tours, shopping, and community activities. True to its name and history, Bluffton is a fascinating place to visit if you want to learn about Lowcountry history and culture.
